Nonparametric Estimation of Regression Functions in Point Process Models

We prove that the empirical L ²-risk minimizing estimator over some general type of sieve classes is universally, strongly consistent for the regression function in a class of point process models of Poissonian type (random sampling processes). The universal consistency result needs weak assumptions on the underlying distributions and regression functions. It applies in particular to neural net classes and to radial basis function nets. For the estimation of the intensity functions of a Poisson process a similar technique yields consistency of the sieved maximum likelihood estimator for some general sieve classes. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.

The prediction–correction approach to nonlinear complementarity problems

This paper presents a prediction–correction approach to solving the nonlinear complementarity problem (NCP). Each iteration of the new method consists of a prediction and a correction. The predictor is produced by an inexact Logarithmic-Quadratic Proximal method; and then it is corrected by the Proximal Point Algorithm. Convergence of the new method is proved under mild assumptions. Comparison to existing methods shows the superiority of the new method. Numerical experiments including the application to traffic equilibrium problems demonstrate that the new method is attractive in practice.

Conic Set-Valued Maps in Vector Optimization

The paper deals with the properties of a conic set-valued function defined on the set of all ideal points of vector programming problems. The results here about the continuity and derivability of this conic set-valued map, can be used to get information about the sensitivity of the problem and the stability of the order associated to every ideal point. Furthermore, it is proved that certain contingent cones are determined by the ideal conic set-valued map.
